The absolute best chicken based broth ramen I've ever had. Loaded with noodles, toppings and packed with flavour. Highly recommended!!
Tentenyu serves up only one kind of ramen, a classic Chinese-inspired shoyu ramen, however, you can customize the noodle hardness, soup strength, green onions, and you can even ask for a heavy broth version.
I ordered a regular chashu ramen with an onsen (lightly-boiled) egg, as I wanted something lighter after my lunch ramen for only 800¥. They offer up to double the size, but the regular size was plenty. The chashu was soft and fatty, complementing the smooth, medium soup. The thin noodles were a good firmness, though I'd ask for something softer next time. The onsen egg was the real winner, melting deliciously into the soup. I only wish other restaurants start doing this as well! Overall, the value really can't be beat!
One of my personal favourites in the neighbourhood! Fantastic little restaurant as the service was good and the facility was clean (always a bonus). Our meal was cheap and delicious plus the gyoza was fantastic and well worth adding on. Would highly recommend if you're in the area!
Delicious, cheap ramen. If you want to avoid crowds and get an authentic, off the beaten path ramen experience, come here!
Despite seeing almost no foreigners in the vicinity, they do have an English menus and provide exceptional service. Highly recommend it!
The best Ramen...
Stumbled across Tentenyu when our first choice was closed and very happy about it. Incredible broth, great staff, highly advise adding the back fat and the onsen egg for an unforgettable ramen.
Best ramen EVER, ANYWHERE!!!!
One of the first ramen shops I've eaten in since I first moved to Kyoto in 2008, and it's still undeniably my favorite!
This is a famous restaurant in Ichijoji that became famous early on as a Kyoto ramen restaurant. Chicken-based ramen with a slightly sticky texture is distinctive.
The main store is quiet and a little dark, like a local private store. I think you can enter the store without lining up except during peak hours. It is a unique ramen that is like a light tempura dish, but the whole cast has a good personality, such as sweet menma and pork pork that is soft but not fatty, and you can eat as many pieces as you like.Although the taste is not strong, there are extras. I think the strength of this is that you can feel the euphoria that makes you want to keep eating. However, with the recent rise in prices, and the price of a single ramen item being 750 yen, I feel that it is starting to change from being a popular dish.
However, I hope that it will continue to do its best as a restaurant where you can enjoy the local atmosphere of local city Kyoto.
